From NEW DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED PAS - Performance Art Studies will take place in Ireland, in Killeshandra, Cavan county with the topic "territories".

Animals within their territories don't know about walls, barricades or barbwires, their living grounds are often simply marked by their own smells. Human territores become more complicated, we need passports, money, flags, national identities and uniforms. History has taught us, that these territories are often only existing temporarily. After each war or conflict borders have to be remarked and identities are renewed. The PAS Workshop in Ireland will deal with the wounds that are still existing from the civil war in Ireland, similar to a lot of other european countries. The topic of the workshop will also ask questions about the territories of an artist and his/her work. The relationship between an art piece and its viewer can create barries which the artist has to break down, or to build up. The stimulating surroundings of Killeshandra; an extraordinary landscape and an amazing natural eviroment, will help to find new ways to mark personal, political and artistical territories.

The aim of this 10-day intensive workshop is to develop an Art-Performance based on the topic of the studies. Workshop participants will present these new works during a public presentation in the landscape around Killeshandra (Trinity Island).

Workshop Objectives and Strategies

With the guidance and direction of the workshop facilitator, participants will use a variety of techniques and exercises to focus perception of one’s own personality, develop skills to communicate with the body, and transform ideas into a performative work. Personal perception and experience colour and characterize how we communicate and deal with the body in time and space during
performance. The main objective of the workshop is to understand the body as a tool and to use this tool to communicate effectively in performance.  

Besides this artistical offer the workshop provides some cultural specials.

OFFER:

- develop an Art Performance with technical, pedagogical and artistical guidance

- performative excercises in various conditions, in- and outdoor (focus on: body, time, space, concentration, endurance,  ... in groups and individual)

- final public presentation of the performance (media promotion, poster, mailing) and final celebration

- contacts to artitsts, curators and art institutions in Ireland

Tiere kennen keine Wände, Barrikaden oder Stacheldraht innerhalb ihrer Territorien, ihre Lebensräume sind oft einfach mit ihren Gerüchen markiert. Menschliche Territorien sind oft komplizierter, wir brauchen Pässe, Geld, Fahnen, nationale Identitäten und Uniformen. Die Geschichte lehrt uns, dass diese Territorien oft nur zeitlich begrenzt sind. Nach jedem Krieg oder  Auseinandersetzung müssen Grenzen neu markiert und Identitäten erneuert werden. Der PAS Workshop in Irland befasst sich mit den immer noch sichtbaren Wunden aus dem Bürgerkrieg in Irland, ähnlich wie in vielen europäischen Ländern. Das Thema des Workshops stellt auch Fragen an die Territorien eines Künstlers und seiner Arbeit. Die Beziehung zwischen dem Kunstwerk und dem Betrachter kann oft Barrieren hervorrufen, die der Künstler einreissen oder festigen muss. Die anregende Umgebung in Killeshandra; eine aussergewöhnliche Landschaft, wird helfen neue Wege persönliche, politische und künstlerische Territorien zu markieren.

Das Ziel des intensiven Workshops ist es eine Kunst Performance zuerarbeiten. Die Teilnehmer werden diese neu entwickelte Arbeiten während eines öffentlichen Events in der Landschaft von Killeshandra (Trinity Island) präsentiren.

Workshopziele und Arbeitsweise

Unter der Anleitung des Workshopleiters werden die Teilnehmer vielfältige Techniken und Übungen nutzen um den Focus auf die eigene Persönlichkeit zu werfen, Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse erarbeiten um mit dem Köper zu kommunizieren, und Ideen in eine performative Arbeit zu transformieren. Selbstwahrnehmung und Erfahrung prägen und charakterisieren wie wir kommunizieren und wie wir mit dem Körper in Zeit und Raum umgehen. Das Hauptziel des Workshops ist den Körper als Werkzeug zu begreifen und dieses wirksam in der Kommunikation während einer Performance einzusetzen.

Neben diesem künstlerischen Angebot bietet der Workshop einige kulturelle Specials.
