screams of speechlessness

Inspired through the small newsfillers in daily newspapers, where a few cold, short sentences describes a dramatic and horrible incident, BBB Johannes Deimling has worked out the cycle of acted images BLANC. Since 2000 he realize different images based on the similar moment of speechlessness. 

BLANC is a cycle of acted images (= images created with the art medium Performance) which are focusing the moments after an accident, a crash, a personal drama at home or a terrorist attack. Those moments of no retrun, where we cannot act or react anymore, where we are speechless and helpless extradited were frozen to pause for a moment. Time stands still. Silence and peace. 

Flour covers like snow or dust peoples and objects. Innocence connects with oblivion, the void with keepsake and the nourishment with the moment. The Flour contacts the ordinariness. The white situation concrete the fright, the silence, the faint and the speechlessness. In this moment of silence it seems that you can hear a scream without voice. 

Description of action people were laying non moving on the floor. Different objects (like a hat, a bag with rolls, and a news paper, a bike, a ladder) and other materials spread all over around. The “image” shows a destroyed situation. Everything is covered with a lot of kilograms of flower. This image last over 45 minutes. After that time the peoples stand up very slowly, take thier objects, and leave the place.
