like the structure of a collage I combine different small actions into
one image: sticking cardboard stripes on the wall in the shape of a
house; creating a semi circle while blowing flour out of my mouth on my
hands and after throwing red chilli powder on my feets; taping with long
plaster-stripes my feets on the ground and drawing a white waistcoat on
my darkbrown shirt; slapping on my left side of my chest in the the
rythm of a heartbeat, taking off the brown shirt - a white shirt is
visible; eating a cardboard gun, burning wholes into the white shirt;
placing plates in a semi circle and putting earth on the plates, putting
forks into the earth and burning the earth; running against the wall (into
the house), creaming my head white, ripping off the letters E,G,O from
cardboard; opening my shirt, scratching with two forks a kind of "sun"
around my bellybutton, dripping black liquid out of my mouth while
smiling; throwing noodle-letters into the public; putting four forks
into a radish and conecting it with a string; blowing petals into the
public; leaving the place with the radish.

Eat Art, a term
invented by Daniel
Spoerri for
art made with and involving food, has its institutionalized origins in
Düsseldorf. In 1970, Spoerri founded the Eat Art Gallery alongside the
Burgplatz and inspired numerous artists to produce various editions made
of edible materials and food wastes. Based on the former activities of
the gallery, the exhibition in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf takes generous
stock of the phenomena from today's perspective and traces the original
character of eat art from its origins until today. "Eating the
Universe" is a title first created in the 1970's by Peter Kubelka,
former professor for Film and Cooking at the Frankfurt Städelschule,
for a TV-show on cooking as an artistic genre. It demonstrates the
ongoing interest of artists even today in the subject of food as an
elementary substance. As a fundamental interface of art and life, food
remains a central topic, especially against the backdrop of issues such
as affluence and hunger, the anti-consumerism and anti-globalization
movements, modern dietetics and cooking shows, health crazes and fast

Eat Art, 1970 von Daniel Spoerri als Bezeichnung für Kunst mit und aus
Essbarem geprägt, hat in institutionalisierter Form ihren Ursprung in
Düsseldorf.
Zwei Jahre nach Eröffnung seines Restaurants am Burgplatz gründete der
Schweizer 1970 dort die Eat Art Galerie, für die zahlreiche Künstler
Editionen aus essbaren Materialien und Lebensmittelabfällen
produzierten. Die Ausstellung „Eating the Universe“ — ein Titel,
den Peter Kubelka, ehemals Professor für Film und Kochen an der
Frankfurter Städelschule, in den 1970er Jahren für eine TV-Sendung über
das Kochen als Kunstgattung erfand — verfolgt mit einer breit
angelegten Bestandsaufnahme aus heutiger Sicht Themen der Eat Art bis in
die Gegenwart. Sie zeigt, wie relevant der künstlerische Umgang mit der
Grundsubstanz Nahrung als elementare Schnittstelle von Kunst und Leben
bis heute geblieben ist und vor dem Hintergrund von Themen wie Überfluss
und Hunger, Konsum- und Globalisierungskritik, moderne Ernährungslehren
und Koch-Shows, Gesundheitswahn und Fast Food eine neue Aktualität
bekommt. ...
